Mark van Bommel is on the brink of joining a great European club.

Mark van Bommel has confirmed he is on the brink of joining one of Europe's great clubs.

Barcelona have overtaken Real Madrid in the chase to sign the Holland international and PSV Eindhoven are already resigned to losing their inspirational captain under the Bosman Ruling.

Although there has been interest from England, van Bommel is expected to join Barca and make the news public in the near future.

In the meantime, PSV are concentrating on the second leg of their UEFA Champions League semi-final with Milan.

"I want to go to a big club in Europe and I hope it has come true," the 28-year-old informed Sky Sports News.

"Will it be Barcelona? I don't know."

Dutch champions PSV trail Milan 2-0 from the first leg and will need to pull off a miraculous comeback if they are to prolong van Bommel's interest in the competition this term.
