Dortmund deny Odonkor bid

Dortmund have denied speculation Lazio have bid for David Odonkor.

Borussia Dortmund have denied speculation Lazio have tabled an official bid for David Odonkor, but hinted that they are ready to part company with the forward.

Reports in Germany hinted the Serie A outfit had made a move for the unsettled Germany Under-21 star, but Dortmund have swiftly refuted this.

"We don't know anything about it, but if Lazio would be interested, we would listen to their proposal," declared managing director Hans-Joachim Watzke.

Watzke is believed to be ready to let Odonkor leave in order to shift fringe players off the payroll as the Black-and-yellows are still plagued by debts of ‚é¼90 million.

According to magazine Sportbild, Lazio are keen to sign the forward, who recently hinted that he aims to find a new club after failing out of favour under new coach Bert van Marwijk.

While the youngster has regularly impressed for the Under-21s, the club career of the talented striker has stalled this season due to a mixture of injuries and poor form.
