Willy Sagnol has confirmed Manchester United are keen on him.

Willy Sagnol has confirmed Manchester United have showed an interest in acquiring his services this summer.

The Bayern Munich defender is keen to leave Die Bundesliga for a fresh challenge and has many admirers across Europe, with Arsenal also said to be in the frame.

As reported back in March, the 28-year-old has caught Sir Alex Ferguson's attention.

After upsetting coach Felix Magath for his part in an unnecessary war of words with keeper Oliver Kahn after the UEFA Champions League defeat to Chelsea, the French full back may be deemed surplus to requirements if the right offer comes along.

"Manchester United and also Arsenal are interested," Sagnol is quoted as saying in The News of the World.

"If I quit Bayern, it will be for a big European club.

"I want to discover another championship.

"A new deal is not what I expect from Bayern."

Sagnol is traditionally a right back but is also capable of playing in midfield.
