QPR quartet released

QPR have released four first team players as they reshape for next season.

Chris Day, Tony Thorpe, Jamie Cureton and Richard Edghill will all leave Loftus Road after the club neglected to extend their deals.

Keeper Day leaves after making 100 appearances for Rangers and, with fellow custodian Generoso Rossi's future in doubt, leaves boss Ian Holloway short of options between the sticks.

Thorpe has failed to break into the starting eleven after a £50,000 move from Luton in 2003, and has been on loan at Rotherham during the current campaign.

Fellow forward Cureton (pictured) also failed to make an impact under Holloway, with just seven goals in 46 appearances since signing from Busan Icons in February 2004.

Edghill has made just 14 league appearances during the current campaign and only signed a new deal last summer.

Holloway described his disappointment at having to let the quartet go, and thanked them for their respective contributions at the London outfit.

"We are saying goodbye to players who have contributed much to this football club and it goes without saying that this is a task I would rather not have to undertake," Holloway told the club's official website.

"I am truly grateful to them for their hard work and determination to help drive this club forward and I hope that they will all enjoy a great future wherever their careers take them.

"I'm sure our supporters will have plenty of positive memories of the players that are leaving and will join me in wishing them the best of luck in whatever they choose to do."
