Makaay makes Bayern vow

Dutch striker Roy Makaay says he is keen to end his career with Bayern Munich.

Bayern Munich striker Roy Makaay admits he is keen to end his career with the freshly crowned Bundesliga champions.

The prolific Dutch hit-man has been in tremendous form yet again this season at the Olympia Stadion, scoring 42 goals in 63 league games since his move from Deportivo La Coruna in 2003.

Makaay is currently contracted until 2007, and admitted that he can envisage seeing out his playing days with the German giants.

"My family and I are very happy here in Munich and if the decision would belong to me alone I'd stay here until the end of my career," Makaay told Bayern 3.

Despite his impressive form the former European golden boot winner from his time in La Liga has been overshadowed in the German goal-scoring chants by Nurnberg's Marek Mintal this season.

Makaay is sceptical about his chances as finishing as top scorer, despite netting two hat-tricks in a week, as he has 19 strikes to Mintal's 23 with just two games to go.

"I don't think that I am able to overtake Marek. Four goals in only two games, that's impossible," declared the striker who stressed he would rather focus on lifting the German Cup.

Munich have the chance to revenge their two league defeats by Schalke on May 28 as they take on the Bundesliga's second-placed side in the DFB Cup final.
