Ritchie gets Tykes job
Andy Ritchie has been appointed as the permanent manager of Barnsley.
Andy Ritchie has been appointed as the permanent manager of Barnsley.Ritchie has performed well since taking over from Paul Hart in March, and scooped the Manager of the Month award for League One in his first month in charge.
The 44-year-old has now been handed a one-year deal after his successful caretaker spell at Oakwell.
The former Oldham player-manager was Hart's assistant coach at Barnsley, and has said that he has no immediate plans to alter the backroom staff at the South Yorkshire side.
After doing a good job with The Tykes, Ritchie was clear favourite to take over the reins on a permanent basis.
Tom Baker, meanwhile, will be moving on from Oakwell in the summer after failing to agree a new deal with Ritchie.
