Pulis wants Helguson

Stoke boss Tony Pulis is interested in Watford's Heidar Helguson.

Stoke boss Tony Pulis has expressed his interest in Watford's Heidar Helguson, but admits the striker may be priced out of their reach.

The 27-year-old has a year to run on his contract with The Hornets, but they are believed to be willing to sell to avoid the Icelandic star from departing for nothing next summer.

"There is an Icelandic player available in The Championship who would be absolutely sensational at Stoke and I would love to sign him," Pulis told The Sentinel.

"He would be better than what we've got and without doubt he'd be a massive favourite with our supporters because of his ability and commitment.

"But the unfortunate thing is whether we can afford him. That is the big question."

Watford are believed to want around £500,000 for Helguson.
