Paul Robinson is set for a pay-hike as Tottenham attempt to ward off summer interest for their number one.The 24-year-old has experienced a fantastic season since his £1.5 million move from Leeds in May, and has established himself as one of the best keepers in the Premiership as well as tying down a starting role for England.
His sterling performances have alerted the likes of Manchester United, who are known to be in the market for another shot stopper, as well as Spanish champions Barcelona.
However the London side are determined to hold onto one of their most valuable assets, and will reportedly offer him a new deal at White Hart Lane when the club return from their Mauritius training camp.
After making a similar commitment to star striker Jermain Defoe, Spurs are looking to retain more of their key performers in a bid to make a sustained challenge for European qualification next year.
Talks are believed to have begun with chairman Daniel Levy, whilst sporting director Frank Arnesen reiterated the club's intention to keep hold of their best players.
"It is up to us to make those players feel as comfortable as possible here, Paul has done fantastically for Tottenham," Arnesen told the Evening Standard.
Robinson could be further encouraged to continue his education in North London given the news that Spurs could yet participate in the Uefa Cup next year.
Martin Jol's side finished second behind bitter rivals Arsenal in the Premiership fair play league although, given that The Gunners qualified for the UEFA Champions League, Spurs will be the English entrant for a draw on June 5 to allocate two further spots across the continent.
