RKC considering keepers
RKC Waalwijk are considering offering Rene Ponk an Eredivisie lifeline
RKC Waalwijk are considering offering Utrecht keeper Rene Ponk an Eredivisie lifeline.Ponk was informed in March that his contract at Utrecht would not be renewed, with Franck Grandel being brought in from Troyes as his replacement.
With the keeper available on a free transfer, he would appear to be a viable option for RKC.
"With Jurgen Wevers and Mattheus Hoop we have got two young goalkeepers," RKC general manager Marcel Brands told Voetbal International. "We are thinking about signing an older, experienced goalkeeper as reserve keeper."
Ponk is not RKC's only option, as they have handed a trial to Ajax keeper Robert Zwinkels.
The 22-year-old is under contract at Ajax, but is unsure of his future at the Amsterdam ArenA.
