Yorke reveals Fergie respect

Dwight Yorke says he would not change his stormy relationship with Sir Alex Ferguson.

Dwight Yorke insists that he would not have changed anything about his relationship with Sir Alex Ferguson.

The two experienced a stormy rapport at Manchester United after the Trinidadian moved from Aston Villa in 1998, which eventually came to an end when Yorke was shipped out to Blackburn four years later.

However the 33-year-old was a hit at Old Trafford despite his issues with the legendary Scottish tactician, playing an important role in the 1999 Treble winning season alongside strike partner Andy Cole.

Yorke has chosen to continue his career with Australian side Sydney FC, and revealed his respect for Ferguson whilst attacking former Blackburn boss Graeme Souness.

"I have my own way of doing things but I'd never change my relationship with Sir Alex," Yorke told The News of the World.

"One reason I accepted the way he treated me was because he was so successful.

"He was fair but if you overstepped the mark he'd let you know in no uncertain terms.

"I know it was Graeme Souness' opinion at Blackburn that I was more of a playboy than a footballer but I lost all respect for him the day I thought he tried to break my leg in training.

"There is not even a comparison between him and Sir Alex."
