Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink is flattered to be linked with Tottenham.
Dutch international striker Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink is flattered by reported interest showed in from Tottenham. However, he has insisted that no talks have taken place and that he is looking to extend his stay at PSV Eindhoven.
"It is always nice when your name is called," said Vennegoor, who has recently won his place back in the Dutch national squad. "And of course I think The Premiership is the best competition in Europe so it is nice to play there.
"But we will see in the future.
"I had a meeting with PSV and it was very positive," he told Sky Sports News. "We will decide in the next couple of weeks.
"It's a nice game [in The Premiership], a nice competition, with great clubs and great names and, as a footballer, you always want to play there. As a young guy, I always wanted to play in England but we will see in the future."
Vennegoor has bagged 22 goals this season and this form has seen him linked with a possible move to England.
Tottenham coach Martin Jol is understood to be a fan of the former FC Twente star and his PSV team-mate Philip Cocu has tipped him to move to White Hart Lane.
"I will not be surprised if Tottenham come to buy him in the summer. He could be a very good player for them," Cocu told The Evening Standard.
"There are a lot of players like Vennegoor in England, so I think he'd be perfectly suited to the game over there. I am sure Martin Jol realises this and that is why he is chasing him.
"I do think that Vennegoor is the type of striker who will be very successful in England."
Vennegoor confirmed he was in talks with PSV over a fresh deal.
"I have had conversations [over a new deal] and I left with a good feeling," he said.
"I will think over my future with my family."
Vennegoor added on his official website that he was not having any discussions with a foreign club.
