Totti deal drawing closer

Francseco Totti is reportedly set to sign a new deal with Serie A outfit Roma.

After putting a torturous season to bed by avoiding relegation on Sunday, Roma are now believed to be ready to announce that Francesco Totti will sign an extension to his contract.

According to reports in the Italian press speculation over the future of the Giallorossi captain will be resolved on Sunday after the final Serie A game of the season.

Roma officials have reportedly been in constant contact with the player's representatives over the past few days, with a deal until 2010 or 2011 being put forward in various quarters.

Giallorossi chief officer Rossella Sensi set a date of Sunday to unveil further news, and deal with issues about the club's future.

"I make you a date for Sunday at Stadio Olimpico because soon we will talk about plans," said Sensi.

"We will do it when it will be time to do it.

"At this moment we are working and someone is helping us."

Roma must also announce a new coach for next season, as current caretaker Bruno Conti will revert to his youth role at Stadio Olimpico at the end of the campaign.
