Deco hails Figo influence

Barcelona schemer Deco has welcomed Luis Figo back into the international fold for this weekend's clash with Slovakia. The Real Madrid wide man had decided to turn his back on playing for Portugal after the European Championships in his homeland but reversed his decision in May, after talks with Portuguese Football Federation president Gilberto Madail.
Figo has endured a miserable week as speculation mounts with regards to his long-term club future, but for Deco, the 31-year-old's return is warmly welcomed.
''Figo is a fantastic player,'' said Deco.
''Our presence in the national team helps force a focus for the next match against Slovakia.
''I have no doubt that his reincorporation and arrival will make better moments for us.
''The match is decisive because if we suffer a defeat there could be problems for Germany.''
Meanwhile, at Deco's club, vice-president Sandro Rosell and director Josep Mones have joined the exodus at Camp Nou.
The departure of the well known duo will cause further raised eyebrows over Joan Laporta's running of the club - coming on top of fellow director Jordi Mones' recent departure.
There has been widespread concern at the Catalan outfit that Laporta's running of the club has become autocratic - with the wishes of the club's members somewhat rail-roaded.
