D'Alessandro in Wolves U-turn
Andres D'Alessandro is set to stay with Wolfsburg for the upcoming season.
Tottenham Hotspur target Andres D'Alessandro has made a surprising change of heart and is set to stay with Wolfsburg for the upcoming season. The gifted play-maker had initially vowed to leave The Wolves after a bust-up with then-coach Erik Gerets, and appeared to be on the verge of a lucrative summer move to England or Spain - with Spurs reportedly being interested in bringing him to White Hart Lane.
However, crisis talks with Wolfsburg's new coach Holger Fach and managing director Thomas Strunz, who flew to Argentina in order to meet up with the 24-year-old and his agent Marcelo Simonian, have now cleared the air between player and club.
"The talks did take place in a very good atmosphere and showed the constructive will of all participants to find a solution," declared Strunz.
D'Alessandro praised the clubs' extensive efforts to bridge the rift, as he is currently enjoying a summer holiday in his home country after being overlooked for the Confederations Cup.
"I was very happy that the managing director and the coach came to Buenos Aires and we were able to talk about everything," stressed the former River Plate ace.
D'Alessandro is now expected to return to Germany on June 24 in order to join the club's preparations for their InterToto Cup campaign.
