McNamara set for Wolves

Celtic's Jackie McNamara is set to join Championship outfit Wolves.

Celtic's Jackie McNamara is set to join Championship outfit Wolves.

McNamara had been expected to extend his 10-year association with Celtic, but rejected a one-year deal with the club.

Newly promoted West Ham along with Wolves were linked with moves for the Scotland international, but it is the Molineux outfit who have acted first.

McNamara has been impressed with the Midlands outfit, especially Wolves boss Glenn Hoddle, and is keen to put pen-to-paper with the ambitious club.

"I had always hoped to finish my career with Celtic," McNamara told the Scotsman.

"I felt I was in a position where I had to make a choice that was the right one for my family and myself in the circumstances.

"Wolves made me a good offer, they made me feel wanted. If the medical goes without a hitch, then I will definitely be signing for Wolves.

"I would have preferred to have signed a new contract with the club several months ago. I never imagined my time at Celtic would end like this.

"It was really disappointing that didn't happen and disappointing that there was only a one-year deal on the table when it finally came."

Meanwhile, Polish striker Maciej Zurawski has been linked with a move to The Bhoys, however Wisla Krakow's ‚é¼2 million asking price could be a stumbling block.
