Besiktas make Biscan move

Besiktas are ready to rival Fenerbahce for Liverpool's Igor Biscan.

Besiktas are ready to rival Fenerbahce for Liverpool's Igor Biscan.

The Turkish outfit have tabled an offer for the Croatian midfielder and are waiting to see if Biscan will accept it.

Biscan seems set to leave Liverpool at the end of the month when his contract expires as Rafa Benitez has decided against offering him a new deal.

A number of clubs are waiting in the wings to sign Biscan after he impressed in Liverpool's successful UEFA Champions League campaign last season.

Fenerbahce have held talks with the former Dinamo Zagreb ace and several Spanish and Italian sides are believed to be monitoring his situation.

Besiktas coach Riza Calimbay admitted the club had made an offer for Biscan and were waiting to hear back from the player.

"Things will be clearer this week or next week," said Calimbay.

"The offer we made is a good one. He's thinking about it at the moment.

"Apparently he's got offers from Spain and Italy too. We've took the necessary actions and now we're waiting to hear from him."

Calimbay also revealed that Norwegian striker John Carew was likely to stay at the club unless they get a massive offer for him.

"If we do sell him (Carew), the player we get to replace him must be better," added Calimbay.
