Posh in Bramble bid

Peterborough are aiming to win the five-way fight for Southend striker Tes Bramble.

Peterborough United are aiming to win the five-way fight for Southend United striker Tes Bramble.

The 24-year-old is leaving Roots Hall at the end of this month when his contract expires following Southend's promotion to League One.

Bramble spent the close of last season on loan at Cambridge United and has interest from a quintet of clubs in League Two.

Rochdale and Stockport County have already confirmed their interest in the forward, while Lincoln City and Rushden & Diamonds are also admirers of Bramble.

But Peterborough are hoping to steal a march on their rivals for Bramble's signature after Posh owner Barry Fry revealed his club's bid.

"Mark Wright has been speaking to a lot of agents and players since he took the job," said Fry.

"Tes Bramble is one of his transfer targets.

"He hasn't reached an agreement yet but he remains hopeful of getting some players in before they come back for pre-season training next week."
