Stretford charged by FA
Wayne Rooney's agent Paul Stretford has been charged by The FA.
The Football Association have charged agent Paul Stretford with alleged breaches of regulations over his acquisition of the right to represent Wayne Rooney.The charges relate to alleged breaches of the Fifa Players' Agents Regulations and FA Rules.
Stretford has been hit with four charges in all, including the circumstances surrounding his acquisition of the right to represent Manchester United ace Rooney.
Also the agent's evidence he provided in respect of a case heard at Warrington Crown Court in October 2004 has been called into question.
Stretford has until July 1 to respond to the charges.
Rooney has spoken of his surprise at the charges and expressed his happiness at working alongside Stretford."I have already informed The FA as to how I came to be represented by Paul Stretford and Proactive," explained Rooney.
"I am surprised that The FA have charged Paul Stretford and Proactive Sports Management as I have already written to them explaining my decision to appoint Paul Stretford and Proactive.
"I was happy then and I still am."
