Trabelsi to stay with Ajax
Ajax have confirmed that Hatem Trabelsi will stay at the club next year.
Ajax have confirmed that Hatem Trabelsi will stay at the club next year after PSV Eindhoven reportedly tabled a bid for the Tunisian star.De Telegraaf reported on Thursday that the Dutch champions had made an offer for the 27-year-old, although Ajax issued a swift response stating that both club and player had agreed to continue their partnership into next season.
"Ajax and Hatem Trabelsi agree that the Tunisian will come out for Ajax next season," read the club's press release.
Trabelsi was believed to have turned down a contract offer from the Amsterdam outfit in April, and has also attracted interest from Co Adriaanse's Porto side.
The stopper is currently contracted until 2006 at the Amsterdam ArenA, and was the subject of a protracted transfer saga with Arsenal last summer.
The dispute resulted in Trabelsi being excluded from the first team squad, and it had been expected that his future was still in some doubt despite signing a new two-year deal in September.
However, Ajax coach Danny Blind now looks likely to hold onto his man for at least another twelve months.
