Gialloblu secure Serie A status
Parma triumphed 2-0 over Bologna in the Serie A relegation play-off second leg.
Parma overturned a one-goal deficit from the first leg of their Serie A relegation play-off with Bologna to maintain their top flight status with a 2-0 win.Sensational striker Alberto Gilardino and Giuseppe Cardone claimed the vital strikes although keeper Sebastian Frey will be taking all the plaudits after pulling off a string of superb saves.
Defender Cardone put Pietro Carmingnani's side ahead on 17 minutes to start the fightback.
However it was Gilardino, who is destined to depart Stadio Ennio Tardini despite the result, who scored the vital decider on the stroke of half time.
The win, achieved in Bologna's own backyard, saves the financially stricken Gialloblu from the ignominy of Serie B football, but Bologna are condemned to join Atalanta and Brescia in the second tier.
