Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh has reiterated his desire to join Lyon. The French champions have made the Morocco international one of their prime transfer targets over the summer.
Chamakh is keen to leave Les Girondins but Bordeaux have been steadfast in their refusal to sanction the player's departure.
The young hot shot has now heaped further pressure on his current paymasters by declaring he would be happy to sit on the bench if it meant he became a Lyon player.
"To play in the Champions League is a dream I have had since a child," said Chamakh.
"I will only be the third or fourth attacker, I am conscious of that but I will work to get my place."
Lyon chairman Jean-Michel Aulas has been in talks with Bordeaux officials and he confirmed a new bid will be lodged in the next week.
Aulas commented: "We continue to discuss this. I have said it before that Marouane Chamakh is one of our priorities.
"We have transmitted a very beautiful offer to Les Girondins and we are on the verge of transmitting another one in the coming days.
"This one will be a little higher to make it possible for the Bordeaux leaders to reflect on it."
