Eto'o confirms Chelsea snub
Samuel Eto'o rejected a more lucrative offer from Chelsea to remain at Barca.
Samuel Eto'o has confirmed that he rejected a more lucrative contract offer from Chelsea to remain at Barcelona. The Cameroon star, who bagged 24 league goals last term, had emerged as a target for The Blues who struggled for goals from their front men last term.
The link was given credence when it was revealed that Eto'o was demanding an improved contract from the Catalan titans after his stunning debut season.
Indeed, Barca boss Frank Rijkaard had even made noises he was less than impressed at the striker's demands for greater financial rewards and was more concerned about players who were committed to the club.
But Eto'o has now got his wish for an improved deal that runs until 2010, but insists he turned his back on bigger rewards at Stamford Bridge to remain at Camp Nou.
"Chelsea made me a superior offer, but money does not bring you happiness," he stated.
"I wanted to stay at this club and the president knew it.
"Everything is finalised and now my wish is to win the (UEFA) Champions League."
