Tristan: Forget about Pandiani

Diego Tristan has told Deportivo La Coruna to forget about Walter Pandiani.

Diego Tristan has told Deportivo La Coruna to forget about Walter Pandiani if the mercurial Uruguayan does not want to return to the club.

Pandiani spent the last five months of the season on loan at Birmingham City and has insisted that he has no intention of returning to the Riazor.

But it was his well-publicised fall-out with coach Javier Irureta - who has now left the club - that was the main reason for him wanting to stay away.

Tristan believes that the Galican outfit should not persuade the striker to come back if he has his heart set on finding a new club.

"If there are players that do not want to play for us then they do not have to be here," the Spanish international explained.

"It is something for the club to sort out, but they have to realise that they should not force him."

Depor are confident that Pandiani may return after the exit of Irureta and have placed him on their list of players with Uefa to appear in the forthcoming InterToto matches.

However, reports in Spain are suggesting that Zaragoza have entered the race to sign Pandiani after Birmingham's failure to agree a fee with Depor.
