Owusu returns to Bees

Lloyd Owusu has re-signed for Brentford after leaving Reading on a free transfer.

Lloyd Owusu has re-signed for Brentford after leaving Championship side Reading on a free transfer.

The 28-year-old has signed a two-year deal with The Bees and joins Ricky Newman and Paul Brooker in making a similar switch to Griffin Park from The Royals this summer.

Despite having a year left on his contract at The Madejski Stadium, Reading boss Steve Coppell deemed Owusu to be surplus to requirements and handed him a free transfer this close season.

The former Slough Town and Sheffield Wednesday hit-man's return to the South West London club has delighted Bees boss Martin Allen.

"Lloyd has an excellent goalscoring ratio, an area that's been an obvious concern to me and needed to be improved," Allen told the club's official website.

"I am taking him because of what he can do and not what he has done.

"He will definitely be an asset to us."
