Jesper Gronkjaer has no regrets over moving to Atletico Madrid.
Jesper Gronkjaer has no regrets over moving to Atletico Madrid. The Danish winger moved on from Birmingham in January and settled in quickly to life in the Spanish capital.
Atletico's form dipped late in the season and they failed to secure a place in Europe, but Gronkjaer has no regrets over moving to Madrid and is determined to help the club restore past glories.
"I am convinced that I have not made the wrong decision," he told the club's website.
"It is impossible we should go another season without European qualification because the club and the supporters deserve it.
"I am at a great club and it is necessary that we fight for titles in Spain and Europe."
Gronkjaer's season ended on a low note as he suffered a broken leg, but the Dane says he is ready to resume pre-season training.
"The injury has now healed and I am ready for pre-season training on July 6."
Carlos Bianchi has been installed as the new manager of Atletico and Gronkjaer feels the Argentine will hand the club a boost.
"I do not know him personally, but the news excited me," added Gronkjaer. "He is a winner."
