Free agent: Shaka Hislop
Ipswich have made a move for veteran goalkeeper Shaka Hislop.
Veteran goalkeeper Shaka Hislop has been offered the chance to resurrect his career at Ipswich Town. The 36-year-old was released by Portsmouth in May after losing his number one jersey with the departure of Harry Redknapp as manager.
The former West Ham shot-stopper is now without a club but could head back to the Championship with Joe Royle's Ipswich.
Coventry boss Micky Adams has been linked with a move for HIslop in the past, but Ipswich have stepped in to make Hislop a firm offer.
"Ipswich have shown interest but they are not the only ones to do so," Hislop told the Trinidad Express.
"They were highly recommended by my friend David Unsworth and they have made a very interesting offer. There are still other interested clubs so I will have to decide soon.
"I will probably have to do it over the phone because of my international commitments."
Hislop will be playing for Trinidad & Tobago in the Concacaf Gold Cup, but could then return to England with Ipswich if he decides to accept their offer.
Royle has lost number one Kelvin Davies to Sunderland and needs to fill the slot at Portman Road - and Hislop is a keeper with bags of experience who performed well in The Premiership last term.
