Mintal staying at Nurnberg

Last season's Bundesliga top scorer Marek Mintal will not be leaving Nurnberg.

Last season's Bundesliga top scorer Marek Mintal will not be leaving Nurnberg this summer.

Club officials confirmed that the 27-year-old Slovakian international will be spending another season at the Frankenstadion despite reports that he could be moving on after netting 24 goals for the Bavarian outfit last term.

"Nobody has contacted us with a firm offer and so a Marek Mintal transfer is no longer a subject of speculation at this club," said FCN sport director Martin Bader.

Nurnberg coach Wolfgang Wolf had told Mintal to make up his mind about his future earlier this week and was told by the player's agent that he would be staying.

"Everyone had six or eight weeks to place a proper offer, but that's the end of the matter now," he said.

Meanwhile, Wolf has warned his players that the coming season would be tougher than last year.

"It will be a difficult season and so I'm not interested in dreamers," said Wolf.

"Nurnberg have often been relegated in the second year after winning promotion."
