Ashton: No regrets

Norwich City striker Dean Ashton has no regrets in committing his future to the club.

Norwich City striker Dean Ashton says he has no regrets in committing his future to the Carrow Road club.

The 22-year-old proved to be one of the signings of the January transfer window when he made a £3 million move to The Canaries from Championship rivals Crewe Alexandra.

Despite his goals in the latter half of the last Premiership campaign, Norwich suffered relegation on the last day of the season.

A return to The Championship brought speculation that Ashton was soon on his way out of Norwich, but the goalscorer recently played down any suggestion that he was to depart the Norfolk outfit in the summer.

Ashton believes Nigel Worthington's side can make an immediate return to the top-flight.

"I owe Norwich at lot and there was no way I was going to say, 'I want to leave'," Ashton said.

"We believe we're one of the best teams in the league and we should be going up."
