Celta to land keeper

Celta Vigo are close to completing the signing of Sevilla goalkeeper Esteban.

The experienced shot-stopper recently expressed his fears for his future at Sevilla following the club's acquisition of Andres Palop.

He has been courted by promoted Celta during the past few weeks and is likely to be unveiled by the Galician club over the next 48 hours.

Esteban had two years remaining on his deal with Sevilla but is expected to move to Celta on a contract until 2008.

Sevilla have given the thumbs up to the transfer and Celta sporting director Felix Carnero acknowledged a deal is almost done.

Carnero said: "I am optimistic and I believe that between Monday and Tuesday it will be possible to announce that Esteban is a Celta player."
