Breckin completes Forest move

Ian Breckin has completed his move from Wigan to Nottingham Forest.

Ian Breckin has completed his move from Wigan to Nottingham Forest, and has already set his sights on promotion.

Forest completed a £350,000 deal for the Wigan stopper, who has been told that he is surplus to requirements at The JJB Stadium.

The 29-year-old played a major part in the club's promotion to The Premiership last term, but Paul Jewell felt he could not do a job in the top flight.

Breckin has followed Nicky Eaden to The City Ground, and believes he will not be spending too long in League One.

"I know I am dropping down but I don't think Forest will be in League One for very long," Breckin told Forest's website after signing a three-year deal with Gary Megson's side.

"The size of the club and the quality of the manager and the playing staff means that I would hope we will be in the forefront of next season's promotion issue.

"Once I heard that Forest were interested I was desperately keen to come and no one really had to sell the idea to me.

"Yes, last season must have been a huge disappointment for everyone connected with Forest but I'm sure we will be heading back in the right direction from now onwards."
