Yossi Benayoun is to leave Racing Santander after his rights were bought out by agents Pini Zahavi and Ronen Katsav.Santander have accepted around é¼3.5 million to hand over ownership of the Israeli international midfielder.
Benayoun had been expected to sign for CSKA Moscow, but rejected the move after the two clubs had agreed a fee of around é¼5 million.
It is understood he was only interested in a move to another Spanish club or England, and that will now be the target of Zahavi and Katsav.
The agents are likely to push hard to secure the 25-year-old a switch to The Premiership, but Racing have confirmed he will not be with them next term.
"Benayoun won't be wearing Santander's colours next season," president Manuel Huerta stated.
"I have decided to accept the offer put forward by Ronen Katsav and Pini Zahavi and the rights to the player have been sold to his agent.
"I'm not particularly happy with the price, especially considering CSKA Moscow's offer, but in business you have to make compromises.
"We have no interest in keeping Benayoun at Santander and with the money we have received we can bring in several players who want to play for the club.
"I don't care what happens with Benayoun. As far as I'm concerned he can spend the season sitting on the beach in Honolulu."
Benayoun has attracted interest from the likes of Newcastle, Tottenham, Liverpool, Bolton, Real Sociedad and Deportivo La Coruna and seems certain to continue his career in either La Liga or The Premiership.
