Brazilian midfielder Doriva has penned a new one-year contract at Middlesbrough.Doriva has spent several weeks in talks with the Teesside club with the aim of thrashing out a fresh deal.
The experienced anchor man has proved to be a useful member of Steve McClaren's squad during his two-and-a-half years at The Riverside Stadium.
The 33-year-old confirmed he has signed the deal put to him and acknowledged he had little hesitation in committing his future to Boro.
"I'm looking forward to the challenge of another year," Doriva told Sky Sports News.
"I hope to continue the work I have done here in the past and am confident about the season.
"It was an easy decision to sign another contract because I'm very happy at Middlesbrough.
"We spoke before I went back to Brazil in the summer and all I had to do was sign when I returned."
Doriva has made 69 appearances in total for Boro since joining from Celta Vigo, initially on loan, with his only goal coming against Notts County in last season's FA Cup third round.
