Terrors look at Soutar

Dundee United's search for a new keeper has seen them linked with Derek Soutar.

Dundee United's search for a new goalkeeper has seen them linked with Dundee's Derek Soutar.

Following Dundee's relegation from The SPL, the Dark Blues are trying to cut their cloth accordingly and trim the wage bill.

To that end, the club have asked Soutar to accept a reduction in his wages, despite the 26-year-old only signing a new contract in February.

Soutar has rejected the plea from Dens Park and his response to the request has infuriated Dundee chief executive Peter Marr.

"If Soutar is that good let him find another club willing to meet his financial demands," Marr told The Courier.

The keeper's refusal to consider a wage reduction has reportedly prompted Dundee's city rivals United to register an interest.

Terrors boss Gordon Chisholm needs a new shot-stopper and could now make a bid to bring Soutar to Tannadice.

Chisholm has also been linked with Crystal Palace's Julian Speroni, who spent three years on Tayside before leaving Tannadice last summer.
