City misfit moves on
Man City have allowed Christian Negouai to return to Belgium with Standard Liege.
Manchester City have allowed Christian Negouai to return to Belgium with Standard Liege.Negouai has joined Standard for an undisclosed fee after proving to be a costly failure at The City of Manchester Stadium.
The 27-year-old joined City from Charleroi in November 2001 for a £1.5 million fee but was unable to make an impact.
He made just 10 appearances during his City career but has been allowed to move on by manager Stuart Pearce.
Last season, the midfielder undertook a spell on loan at Coventry City but again struggled for regular first-team football.
Negouai will be hoping his return to Belgium will help him to revive his faltering career.
Meanwhile, former Premiership target Oguchi Onyewu has signed a new contract with Standard.
The United States international, who was linked to Birmingham City, Newcastle United and Southampton in February, has inked a deal until 2007 after shunning interest from Anderlecht.
