Former Celtic goalkeeper Jonathan Gould is to continue his career in New Zealand. The 36-year-old custodian is to link up with Hawkes Bay United having severed ties with his latest employers Bristol City.
Gould will also do some coaching at United, the club where he started his career, and is of the opinion that the opportunity was too good to resist.
''I always said to myself that if I was ever to emigrate it would be to New Zealand and I promised to return to the club one day,'' Gould told the Daily Record.
''I have been given the opportunity to go over and help set up the youth system and do my coaching badges and continue playing.
''The team is in the national league, we are setting up a youth academy and it's quite a challenge.''
Gould admits that leaving Scotland was a difficult decision to make and has promised to spread the word of Celtic overseas.
''I look back at my Celtic career and sometimes wonder if it was all a dream,'' he concluded.
''They were such good times. You cannot sum up in words what being at Celtic means to me.
''There won't be a single person in New Zealand who won't have heard about Celtic once I get there.''
