Rangers land Argentine

Rangers have bolstered their playing staff with the acquisition of Federico Nieto.

Rangers have further bolstered their playing staff with the acquisition of Federico Nieto.

The 21-year-old Argentine forward arrives at Ibrox from Almagro, who are based in Buenos Aires, initially in a loan deal.

Nieto is believed to be a player of considerable flair and joins the Glasgow giants with a view to a permanent deal.

Gers chief Alex McLeish is hopeful the player will be able to fulfil his potential next term, as he looks to continue Rangers' current stranglehold on the SPL.

''He is young and not a seasoned campaigner so, right away, we are bringing in an unknown quantity,'' said McLeish.

''We have seen sufficient footage of him and done some background checks on him and we believe he can be a very good prospect.

''We hope he can bring some Argentinian flair.''
