Getafe net Nano

Getafe have landed midfielder Nano from city neighbours Atletico Madrid.

The 23-year-old, full name Fernando Macedo da Silva Rodilla, has moved for an undisclosed fee after failing to establish himself at the Vicente Calderon.

He joined Atletico from Barcelona in the summer of 2003 and big things were expected of the left-sided star.

However, after an impressive first season he went backwards last season and hardly featured under Cesar Ferrando.

Although Ferrando has since moved on, the club were unable to give the player assurances over his future and he has now decided to move on.

His contract at Atletico was due to expire next summer so Getafe are not expected to have paid a significant fee for his services.

Meanwhile, Getafe look likely to cull their squad by allowing Quique Medina and Alberto to join Segunda Division Elche.
