Sakiri in Clarets trial

Artim Sakiri's search for a new club has taken him to Burnley.

Artim Sakiri continued his search for a new club in England with his first game on trial at Burnley.

The FYR Macedonia midfielder was released by West Bromwich Albion at the end of the season, but is keen to remain in England.

The 31-year-old had recently spent a couple of weeks on trial with Championship side Derby County, but new Rams boss Phil Brown decided not to offer him a deal.

Sakiri has now moved on to Turf Moor and played for The Clarets in their 3-0 pre-season friendly win at Accrington Stanley on Wednesday night.

The former CSKA Sofia man played a decent role in the Burnley midfield during his 84-minute run-out, as he looks to impress Steve Cotterill enough to earn a move to Lancashire.

"He's obviously still out there at the moment," Cotterill told the club's website.

"We believe he couldn't agree terms with Derby County, from what I can gather.

"So we're talking to him on that point at the moment and we'll see where that one goes.

"I thought he did some very good things."

Coventry City and Leeds United have both previously been linked with Sakiri and the talented midfield man seems desperate to stay in England.
