Portsmouth continue their squad rebuilding with the capture of Benfica striker Azar Karadas. The Norwegian hit-man arrives at the South Coast outfit on a one-year loan deal as Pompey chief Alain Perrin looks to replace Yakubu Aiyegbeni.
Karadas, 23-years-old, has three caps for Norway and offers the type of physical presence Perrin is looking for next term.
The player started his career at SK Brann before joining Norwegian giants Rosenborg in 2002 - scoring 13 times in 59 appearances.
His performances for Rosenborg earned him a move to Benfica for a reported £1.5 million fee but he played just ten games last term - netting a credible four times.
Pompey Chairman Milan Mandaric has spoken of his delight at landing a player he feels can improve Perrin's side next term.
"We have strengthened our strike force with Azar's signing and this will give us further options,'' Mandaric told the club's official website.
"Alain Perrin rates him highly and he is a very good addition to Pompey's squad.
"He is an excellent English style target man and his goals and style attracted a club such as Benfica to go out and purchase him."
