Hearts sign Jankauskas

Hearts have made the first of several expected signings this week.

Hearts have officially confirmed the signing of striker Edgaras Jankauskas.

The 30-year-old joins on a one-year loan deal from Liverpool's UEFA Champions League opponents Kaunas, and his arrival is expected to be the first of five or six signings by Hearts this week.

Jankauskas has a good reputation around Europe, having been signed by Jose Mourinho in 2002. The Lithuanian bagged 24 goals to help FC Porto win the League, and he was an unused substitute in the UEFA Champions League final against Monaco.

Hearts boss George Burley will hope that Jankauskas can bring some much-needed firepower to his side, not to mention the vast experience he has gained from experiences in Belgium, Spain, Russia and Portugal.

Jankauskas is the first of three expected signings for Hearts, with George Burley hoping to confirm the transfers of Michal Pospisal and Roman Bednar in the very near future.

The deal, which was expected to be permanent, has turned out to be a loan after it was revelaed that Jankauskas had also penned a three-year deal with Kaunas.
