Oster in Lions trial

John Oster will play for Millwall in the friendly against Gillingham on Tuesday evening.

Steve Claridge has included new trialist John Oster in his squad for Millwall's friendly against Gillingham.

Millwall host The Gills on Tuesday night and new Lions boss Claridge will be keeping a close eye on Oster, who has plenty of experience of playing in The Premiership.

Oster is also a full Welsh international, and Claridge will be hoping that the former Everton man can provide some much-needed attacking flair for his team, after the summer loss of key winger Paul Ifill.

Oster will link back up with former Sunderland team-mate Don Hutchison, who will continue his pre-season trial with Millwall.

Claridge himself is also expected to make an appearance after The Lions' previous two friendlies ended disappointingly without any goals as far as the Championship side were concerned.

Defender Matt Lawrence is expected to miss the game through injury.
