Hibbert pens new deal

Defender Tony Hibbert has signed a fresh four-year deal with Everton.

Defender Tony Hibbert has signed a fresh four-year deal with Everton.

The 23-year-old stopper had a year left on his current deal but was offered improve terms and an extended stay at Goodison Park until 2009.

With influential Australian Tim Cahill turning down a new long-term deal, Hibbert's decision to commit his future to the club will be a welcome boost to David Moyes.

Hibbert has established himself as first choice right back under Moyes, with his full-blooded displays particularly popular amongst Everton fans.

HIbbert says that he was delighted to sign a new deal, but was surprised to be offered the contract by The Toffees.

"I had one year left on my contract and I wasn't expecting anything to happen until maybe the end of next year, so I was very pleased when the club came to me," Hibbert told the club's website.
