Barrass retires
Matthew Barrass has retired from football due to persistent knee problems.
Former Bury defender Matthew Barrass has officially retired from professional football.
Barrass has suffered a horrific period of injuries, and has undergone five big operations on his knees in only six years.
At 25 years of age, the defender has decided that the best interests for his health lie away from the playing side of the game.
Barrass had been at Bury since 1994, and he went on to make 93 appearances for The Shakers.
After recently being released by the club due to his persistent knee problems, Barrass has announced that he will not search for a new club.
