Stelios staying at Reebok
Stelios has confirmed that he is set to sign a new contract with Bolton.
Bolton favourite Stelios Giannakopoulos has given the fans the news they wanted to hear, by declaring himself ready to commit his future to the club.
Stelios was heavily linked with European Champions Liverpool over the summer, but a deal never managed to materialise. Now Stelios is happy to continue playing at The Reebok Stadium.
"It is flattering to be linked with a big club," Stelios told the Bolton website.
"I am committed to Bolton Wanderers. I have one year left on my contract and I am currently negotiating a new deal which will see me commit for quite some time.
"Talks are progressing well and I hope to conclude things when I get back from Japan."
The attacking midfielder was crucial to Bolton's push up The Premiership table last season, a campaign that ended with European qualification for The Trotters.
And the 31-year-old was also part of the Greek international side that sensationally won the 2004 European Championships. Now Stelios is ready to pull off a similar shock by firing Bolton to Euro glory.
"Personally this is going to be our biggest season to date. The UEFA Cup should be an exciting competition and I believe with the squad we have here, and the influx of a number of new players, Europe can offer us a massive challenge of some silverware."
