Josemi set for Reds stay
Liverpool defender Josemi has pledged his future to Anfield.
Liverpool defender Josemi has pledged his future to Anfield despite speculation linking him with a return to Spain. The Spanish full back was only brought to Merseyside last season from Malaga but was used sparingly - making just 13 Premiership appearances.
Sevilla and Villarreal are both thought to be keen to bring the defender back to his homeland but Josemi is happy to remain in England.
Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez started Josemi in the club's recent UEFA Champions League qualifier against FBK Kaunas and, for the moment, it seems unlikely that he will be on the move this summer.
''I had a bad summer with so many rumours about my departure, but after returning to work, I have spoken in depth with Rafa Benitez, and I am clear,'' said Josemi.
''I am not leaving Liverpool. Last season injuries prevented me from being a success - it is not going to be like that this time.
''This new season is a personal challenge and I'm going to give everything on the field.
''They will see the best possible Josemi. It's nice that big teams from the Spanish league are interested in me but I came to England to be successful in The Premier League and this will be my objective this season.''
