Forlan's waiting for Toffees

Diego Forlan wants to silence his English doubters by knocking Everton out of Europe.

Diego Forlan has set his sights on proving his English doubters wrong, by scoring the goals to eliminate The Premiership's UEFA Champions League representatives.

Forlan endured a tough time at Manchester United, and left England for Villarreal with somewhat of a laughable reputation in front of goal after some horrific misses.

However, the Uruguayan showed why Sir Alex Ferguson spent over £7 million on him, by finishing joint top scorer in Europe last season alongside Thierry Henry.

Now he wants to give the English public a first-hand look at his goalscoring prowess, by knocking Everton out of Europe on his way to a dream return to Old Trafford.

"The only thing that we have thought about is eliminating Everton," Forlan told Marca.

"Whatever else happens this year we will have to see because the season will be long and hard.

"To play against Manchester (United) will be very hard in itself but always it is nice to score where you played and that is also the case at Old Trafford."

The 26-year-old could not be happier at present, and admits that his move to Villarreal has lived up to all expectations.

"I knew that they (Villarreal) were a good team with big players who had reached the semi-finals of the Uefa Cup.

"I had been very happy in England but I hardly played. The chance to sign for Villarreal came up and gave me the regular football that I was not having."
