Adebayor set for English move

Monaco striker Emmanuel Adebayor could be set for a move to England.

Monaco striker Emmanuel Adebayor could be set for a move to England with a number of Premiership clubs tracking him.

Adebayor's future at Monaco is up in the air after a contract dispute.

The French side are willing to let him leave after the player claimed he would move on if he did not have his demands for a new contract met.

Adebayor was left out of Monaco's squad for the opening game of the season against Nancy last weekend and it seems he will move on.

Monaco have enlisted the help of Monte Carlo-based agent Willie McKay to help broker a move for Adebayor with the Stade Louis II outfit keen to sell him abroad.

McKay revealed he has been handed the transfer mandate for Adebayor and that a number of clubs have expressed an interest in securing his services.

"I hold the mandate for the transfer of Adebayor," McKay told skysports.com

"Monaco have asked me to try and help find him a move.

"There are a number of clubs in The Premiership who are chasing him.

"He is a top-class young striker and he has all the attributes to be a success in England, as he is strong, quick and knows where the net is.

"He has played in the Champions League and has proved himself to be a really good player."

West Ham are thought to be leading the chase for the Togo international with Hammers boss Alan Pardew keen to bring in a new forward after missing out on Mamadou Niang.
