Yeovil sign Argentine
Yeovil have finally confirmed the capture of Argentine striker Pablo Bastianini.
Yeovil Town have finally confirmed the capture of Argentine striker Pablo Bastianini from Quilmes. The 22-year-old hit-man started his career at Independiente, where he enjoyed a partnership with Villarreal striker Diego Forlan.
Bastianini previously had a trial with Bundesliga outfit Hertha Berlin in May but after much protracted negotiations, has now committed his future to Yeovil.
Despite his South American background, Bastianini holds an Italian passport and will therefore have no concerns about being granted a work permit.
Yeovil boss Gary Johnson believes the player has the ability to be a real asset in League One next term and is pleased that his perseverance has paid off.
"I am delighted to have eventually signed Pablo Bastianini,'' Johnson told the club's official website.
''I must tell you if it wasn't for the 100 percent commitment from Pablo to stay at this football club this transfer would have never happened.
"There were agents upon agents wanting him to go to different countries. Not many of them knew about Yeovil but when Pablo met the boys and had his first training session he wanted to stay here.
"Pablo had to argue with his representatives to stay here and that is a real plus for us. Eventually we found out who we were dealing with from Argentina, it proved to be a different system out there.
"Fortunately he had our own European agent in Chris Adedeji to help and meet these people and make sure everything was okay.''
