The former Skonto Riga man will be sidelined for the first month of the new campaign, as The Saints embark on a season of football in The Championship.
The news will come as further frustration for the Baltic hit-man, who has not appeared in the first team for over a year because of a persistent ankle problem.
Pahars looked on course to make a return to action this season but this latest injury setback will delay his availability to Harry Redknapp.
