All systems go for Figo

Luis Figo has left the Real Madrid camp in order to complete his move to Internazionale.

Luis Figo moved yet another step closer to a move to Internazionale, after he left Real Madrid's training camp in Austria to fly to Italy.

The deal to take the Portuguese superstar to the San Siro is all but wrapped up, and Figo has now begun his journey to Milan to finalise the minor details.

The latest developments will finally end any hopes of Figo's appearance on Merseyside this season, meaning that Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez will have to look elsewhere for a right-sided midfielder.

As Figo left the training base, he told reporters: "I'm going to Inter to see if they will let me play a bit of football.

"I will have time to bid farewell to the fans, who are the ones who deserve it more than anyone else.

"On Saturday I will give a news conference to say goodbye to them as I won't have the chance to do that by playing in front of them."

The signing of Figo will be Inter's third successful dealing of the summer with the Madrid giants, after their earlier captures of Walter Samuel and Santiago Solari.

Agent Ernesto Bronzetti, who brokered the deal between the two sides, revealed that, awaiting the successful completion of a medical, Figo would be paraded as the latest member of The Bianconeri on Saturday.

"The official announcement there will be on Friday after the medical checks but the agreement has already been found," Bronzetti told GRT radio agency.

"All agreements have to be submitted to the good results of them and I think on Saturday the player might be unveiled to the Italian press."
